ADHD testing expert

Hi, I’m Dr. Julien Almonte, a licensed psychologist in New York. I am a woman of color and a disabled clinician, and these identities meaningfully inform both my values and my work. I specialize in trauma, grief, ADHD assessment and treatment, eating disorders, and coordination of care for developmentally disabled adults. My clinical approach is collaborative, relational, and grounded in compassion, curiosity, and respect.

In therapy, I integrate psychodynamic, relational, and existential approaches to help clients deepen insight, better understand and access their emotional lives, and make meaningful changes in service of a fuller and more sustainable life. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is central to treatment, and I work to create a space where clients feel seen, understood, and engaged in the process of healing and growth.

My work is also informed by a social justice lens. I recognize that psychological distress does not occur in a vacuum and is often shaped by systemic inequities, oppression, marginalization, disability, family dynamics, and barriers to care. I strive to provide services that are thoughtful, affirming, and responsive to the broader contexts that affect my clients’ lives.

In addition to psychotherapy, I provide comprehensive psychological evaluations for ADHD. My goal in each evaluation is to offer a thorough and clinically sound assessment, clarify diagnosis and symptom presentation, review relevant records, and provide thoughtful recommendations tailored to the individual’s needs. I also prepare written reports within an agreed timeline to support clients seeking accommodations in academic, workplace, and testing settings, including for standardized examinations such as the LSAT, MCAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE, and more.

I also offer coordination of care services for developmentally disabled adults, including support with communication across providers and systems, review of records and documentation, care planning, and assistance maintaining continuity across medical, psychological, academic, and related support settings. This work is especially important for individuals and families navigating complex systems who benefit from structured, high-touch support.
